Community Service

All students at Morningside College are expected to take part in community service or civic engagement activities as part of College General Education. These activities might take the form of

  • hands-on volunteer work at a charity active in Hong Kong
  • service activity elsewhere in China, such as through Bridge to China, an NGO founded and directed by Professor Edward Ng, a Fellow of Morningside College
  • serving as a “big sister” or “big brother” to a child in need of guidance and companionship
  • conducting research to support the work of a non-profit advocacy group
  • or many other activities.

The College is happy to assist with links to a number of partner organizations and seek out resources to assist students in their service activities.  However, students are expected to explore for themselves the specific community service work in which they wish to engage.  Students are encouraged to find work that reflects their interests, engages their passions, and makes use of their own skills and aptitudes in the service of others.  They will also be required to complete certain written assignments in connection with their service work.

Listed below are some prominent Hong Kong NGOs, sorted according to the types of assistance they provide. Please note that this list is for informational purposes only - the College claims no prior established relationships or connections with these NGOs, and if students are interested they are expected to research opportunities and make contact with the organizations themselves.
