A Final Formal Hall Dinner for the Class of 2026

16April2026

The final Formal Hall of the 2025-2026 academic year was held on Thursday 16 April, bringing together College Fellows, College leadership, students, and families of the Graduating Class of 2026 for a memorable evening of celebration in the College dining hall. The occasion was opened by Master of Ceremonies Dawitsamuel Habtamu Workineh (Economics, Year 1), who warmly welcomed guests in both English and Mandarin. In his opening address, Acting Master Professor Anthony So extended a heartfelt welcome to the families of the graduands, expressing his sincere gratitude for their partnership and support over the years, and offering his warmest congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2026 as they prepared to embark on the next chapter of their lives.

Professor So encouraged the graduands to cherish the friendships they had forged and the lessons they had learned at Morningside. He reflected that while students arrived as part of one family, they now depart with the affection and support of a second. Emphasizing that the evening marked not merely a farewell, but a beginning, Professor So noted that the graduands would soon join the College's alumni community, while their families would become enduring members of the College’s wider circle of supporters and friends.

During dinner, guests enjoyed a photo presentation showcasing treasured moments from the graduands' college years, featuring a special spotlight on the 11 graduands whose family members were present that evening, alongside group photos of the Graduating Class of 2026. The images offered families and students a glimpse into the friendships, shared experiences, and community spirit that had shaped the graduands' time at Morningside. The evening concluded with the graduating class gathering for a commemorative group photo with their families, College Fellows and leadership, marking a meaningful milestone in their Morningside journey.
