A Night Full of Music

03December2025

On Tuesday 25 November, Morningsiders got to participate in and witness the first Music Night of the year. The College Dining Hall was full of students who came to enjoy a fun evening before the exam season and support their peers. A total of six bands performed, and quite a few of them had members of the first-year class at Morningside, for whom this was the first opportunity to show their skills on stage. This is what they have to share about the Music Night:

“I would consider this as my first time performing with a live band! It was nothing like practicing alone in my room. It takes real effort to find rehearsal times that work for everyone, balance the sound, and not to mention overcoming stage fright is very real. But the energy of playing together and connecting through music made it all worth it. I loved the experience and can’t wait to keep improving and do it again.” – Linda Jiao, LLB, Year 1

“The music night was actually one of the reasons I joined Morningside College, and I love playing the guitar. In fact, I have always dreamt of performing in a band, so I was both satisfied and very glad that I participated in the event. I am so excited and also very looking forward to the next music night event at MC.” – Kenny Ho, BEng Materials Sci & Erg, Year 1

“Music night was definitely one of the highlights of my first semester at CUHK. The preparation was both enjoyable and challenging, as all my bandmates had never been in a band before. We spent many hours practicing and experimenting with new things, especially during the week leading up to the performance. Despite encountering many obstacles, we managed to put together a performance in the end, and it felt amazing when our hard work actually paid off.” – Punnawish “Bank” Thongngarm, BSc Global Economics & Finance, Year 1

Congratulations to all the band members on the successful show!
