Eric Wang and Silas Wong Awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Excellence

Eric Wang (Psychology and Linguistics) and Silas Wong (Computer Science) were among eight CUHK students awarded the 22/23 CUHK Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Excellence. During the award presentation ceremony on 27 November, Eric and Silas were recognized by Vice Chancellor Rocky Tuan for their academic and extracurricular accomplishments. All awardees had the opportunity to introduce themselves and acknowledge their receipt of the scholarship.

Eric expressed gratitude for this recognition of his hard work over the past year. He studied cognitive neuroscience and conducted research at labs in Hong Kong, Macau, and New Zealand. He added that the award reflected his passion for neuroscience and encouraged him to “continue to explore the mysteries of the human mind”. 

Silas, a member of the Morningside College Student Union (MCSU), highlighted his academic collaborations and multicultural experiences at the college. Within the Faculty of Engineering, Silas joined the Engineering Leadership, Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (ELITE) Stream in search of more challenging coursework, and he strives within MCSU to improve Morningsiders’ residential experience. He hopes that his achievement will spur other Morningsiders’ aspirations.
