MCAA Presents: Not Just a Finance Bro

2024年924日

What’s it really like to work in Hong Kong’s finance industry? On Tuesday 24 September, the Morningside College Alumni Association hosted a talk in the TV room to discuss exactly that. Recent graduates Tony Kuo, Seyrence Lee, and Thiha Chi, all of whom work at major finance/consulting firms, took part in a discussion moderated by Junior Fellow Serag Heiba. Students of all backgrounds came prepared with their own questions for the panel. After the hour-long event, the conversation continued casually between the alumni and groups of curious students.

Highlights from the talk include Tony’s revelation that he dreamed of making it big as a baseball player before deciding to become an investment banker. Seyrence shared the unusual story of how he landed his job at Oliver Wyman, which drove home an important message about getting out of one’s comfort zone. Thiha, in response to a question about mistakes made and lessons learned, had everyone laughing as he recounted an embarrassing moment at BlackRock.
