Final Formal Hall of the 2017-18 Spring Term

Fellows, students and alumni thanked College Master Professor Sir James Mirrlees for his service to Morningside at the final formal hall of the spring term on 19 April. Acting Master Professor Christopher Gane and Dean of Students Professor Colin Graham, spoke on Professor Mirrlees’ contributions over the past ten years, and his devotion to Morningside’s mission of scholarship, virtue and service. Professor Mirrlees also spoke on the great benefits of living at a residential college, from exposure to students with different backgrounds to lectures in a wide variety of fields. The dinner finished with a rendition of Robert Burn’s Auld Lang Syne by Gabriel Wong and Victoria Liu, accompanied by Jacky Yip on the piano. Many thanks to all the Morningsiders who came out to give Professor Mirrlees their best wishes.
