Master Professor Sir James Mirrlees Speaks at the Final Formal Hall Dinner of the Academic Year

The final Formal Hall dinner of the 2013-2014 academic year was a celebration of learning and creativity. Students gathered in the dining hall in their formal clothes and gowns for the multicourse meal, and for an inspiring talk by the Master, Professor Sir James Mirrlees, entitled “What’s Next?”. According to Professor Mirrlees, creativity and innovation manifest in different ways in the arts, the sciences, and other fields. Nonetheless, ingenuity in any area can have a significant impact on the quality of life for multiple people, and it’s something that young people should embrace when they can. An engaging question and answer session followed the talk.
