First Formal Hall Dinner of 2017-2018 Spring Term

The first Formal Hall Dinner of the spring term was held on the evening of 7 February in the Dining Hall. After opening remarks by Acting Master Professor Christopher Gane, Morningside Fellows and students shared a delicious meal together to celebrate the beginning of the spring term.

After dinner, Morningside Fellow Professor Kristof Van Den Troost delivered a talk titled “Hong Kong Movies, Gangsters, and Other Tales”. Professor Van Den Troost focused on the perception of police officers and criminals in Hong Kong films from the 1970s to the present day. Students volunteered several questions after the talk about the future of Hong Kong cinema, the impact of crime and action movies on society, and the international appeal of movies produced in Hong Kong.
