MC Rangers' First-Ever Camp Hike to Ma On Shan

On the cozy afternoon of 9 November 2019, MC Rangers packed bags with bulky equipment and embarked on their first ever camp hike to Ma On Shan! On the bus towards the beginning of a rocky and steep hiking trail, elated chit-chat persisted throughout the journey, and lasted all the way through the somewhat arduous learning process of setting up tents. The steep climb to the camp base had left everyone quite hungry, and participants were soon huddling in groups to cook cup noodles on portable gas stoves. During the chilly and breezy night, friends sought warmth  in cozy tents. Some chatted jovially while a few drifted off to sleep in comfortable sleeping bags. 

After a night of sleeping under the stars, a few brave participants woke up at the break of dawn to conquer a neighboring steep peak, just in time to watch a beautifully colourful sunrise. Once everyone was awake and revitalised, a rocky descent awaited, which all hikers masterfully executed. Finally, the camping trip concluded with a hearty meal at Sai Kung. 

“This was a very unique activity offered by MC Rangers,” said Christie Leung, a local sophomore studying Law. “The overnight stay gave us an opportunity to get closer, and the hike offered an awesome view.” 

“It was such a blessing to arrange the first ever Ma On Shan Camp Hike,” said Myles, the President of MC Rangers. “To all the camp hike participants, I hope all of you had fun along the way, and stay tuned because we’ve still got so much lined up for you all in the coming semester!”

As MC Rangers, we are grateful for ending the semester in such high spirits. We truly hope that our home, Hong Kong, can find peace and solace, so we can continue to bring opportunities for exploration to Morningsiders.
