It would be a distinct advantage if applicants have knowledge and/or experience in peer or even professional counseling, and in study/career guidance skills. First-aid knowledge will be advantageous. Final-year undergraduate students who are admitted to full-time research postgraduate studies in the University commencing in the academic year of 2024/25 may also apply.
The Resident Tutors will work closely with the Warden and College Hostel Team to discharge the following duties:

- Foster community by regularly organizing residential activities and floor projects;
- Provide guidance and peer support to residents;
- Work as a good team member for the Warden and/or Dean of Students to help resolve resident cases concerning not only discipline but more importantly residents’ health and safety;
- Provide assistance for residents during emergencies;
- Provide event & administrative support for hostel and dining events.
Volunteers are nominated as Resident Tutors. This is not employment (full-time or part-time) and is not regarded as concurrent employment with the University. Resident Tutors will not have any allowance/remuneration or enjoy any employee benefits for provision of this volunteer service.
Resident Tutors will be provided with accommodation (en-suite single room) at the College hostel. Resident Tutors are required to be on duty at Morningside College, including weekends and public holidays, on a rotational basis. On top of the duty days, Resident Tutors are expected to be present in the hostel and participate in College Communal Dinners (which students will be required to attend) to interact with students on a regular basis. Meal costs for communal dinners will be subsidized for Resident Tutors.
The nomination will last for one year and will start on 1 August 2024 (Thu), subject to mutual agreement. Nominees are required to commit to the full period of nomination.
