Looking back, I can hardly believe how much my life has transformed. In 2023, as a high school student in Thailand, I mainly focused on academics and competition, with little interest in socializing or making friends. However, I eventually realized that while studying is important, it’s just one side of life. I wanted to broaden my horizons and develop essential life skills.

Since joining Morningside College, I’ve undergone significant changes. The diverse environment here has introduced me to countless new people, and I’ve enjoyed participating in various activities. I became involved in the Morningside College Student Union and served on the organizing committee for MC O’Camp 2024-25. I also joined the College soccer and table tennis teams, and, most importantly, became a part of the Morningside College Music Community.

The only musical talent I still remember from childhood is playing the piano. I love listening to music in many languages, including Thai, English, Japanese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. With my passion for global music, especially pop and rock, I wanted to join Morningside’s Music Community as a pianist.

I began my music journey in 2023, when I met many experienced seniors in the Music Community, gaining valuable insights and band experience. After that, I was assigned to a band with several members, and although we initially struggled due to our lack of experience, our shared passion for music helped us improve through practice. Eventually, we named our band "Wake Up SunRise!" and represented Morningside’s Music Community in several activities. In my opinion, music has a unique ability to unite people—we don’t need to talk much; we just jam and make friendships through our shared love of music.

Now, as a second-year student, I serve as the main music organizer for the Music Community. My responsibilities include managing the various bands, setting up and maintaining equipment in the music room, and organizing events throughout the year. These include:

Morningside College Orientation Camp

Each year at MC O’Camp, we introduce new freshmen to our Music Community. We also host a lively jamming session where Jobamas and freshmen can showcase their talents and enjoy a fun, collaborative O’Camp atmosphere.

Morningside Music Recruitment

During this two-hour session, we welcome new members to our Music Community. In the first hour, we introduce the Community, gather newcomers’ information, and present upcoming activities in the TV room. In the second hour, we move to the music band room, where we guide newcomers on how to use the space and encourage them to play together, allowing us to assess their musical preferences. Afterwards, we recruit them to existing bands or form new ones.

Music Night

Music Night is a long-standing tradition at Morningside College, held twice a year—once each semester. This event allows Morningsiders to enjoy performances from various bands in our community during communal dinner.

Cultural Fair

The Morningside Cultural Fair is one of the largest College events of the year, celebrating the diverse cultures of our student body. In the evening, we host music performances from bands not only from Morningside College, but also from across CUHK. It's a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and appreciate the beauty of our cultural diversity through music.

Throughout my university journey, music has profoundly impacted my life. I’ve discovered my true passion and purpose. As the Music Community’s organizer, I look forward to creating unforgettable experiences for all members, and I can't wait to see how our diverse and talented musicians will continue to shine. Together, we are not just making music; we are building a family. Here’s to the rhythm of our lives at Morningside!
