Deputy Master Anthony So and Fellow Chaoran Huang Achieve Prestigious Recognitions for their Work
07August2023
Professor Anthony So, Deputy Master of Morningside College, and Professor Chaoran Huang, a Morningside College Fellow, both received important forms of recognition for their research this week.
Professor So was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Class of 2023. This was in recognition of his research applying an optimization technique called Semidefinite Relaxation (SDR) to the areas of signal processing and communications. The IEEE defines itself as “the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity”.
Professor Huang won the Optica Foundation 20th Anniversary Challenge. This was for her research on integrated photonic neuromorphic processor-enabled intelligent, energy-efficient signal processing. This development is essential for communications systems to accommodate rising global internet traffic, with higher processing capability and energy efficiency. The Optica Foundation recognizes “exceptional ideas to leverage optics and photonics and address global challenges… (and) transform our world”.
